Energy Work

What is Red Hat Qigong?

Red Hat Qigong

Red Hat Qigong (pronounced chee-gong) is a 6000-year-old ancient yin Chinese practice that is passed on orally from teacher to student, bringing body, mind and soul into balance.  The word Qigong is made up of two words:  Qi meaning "energy" and Gong meaning "moving".  Qigong is literally "moving energy".

The body, mind and spirit are not separate but connected and all three need to be in balance in order to achieve ultimate wellness.

Energy flows through our bodies, similar to water flowing in a river.  When these energy channels (rivers) become “blocked,” or vibrate at a low level, the flow of energy (water) slows and doesn't feed the body downstream, resulting in illness.

Energy blocks can happen for many reasons including emotional stress, environmental causes, or reactions to injuries.  Qigong results in improved overall energetic flow facilitating the body’s innate healing systems and helps with the feeling of being “stuck.”

Heather is a 19th generation certified practitioner of Red Hat Qigong.  She received her certification from Grand Master Beverly Anderson whose lineage was certified by Grand Master Dr. Wong in Hong Kong.

What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced ray-kee) is an ancient Japanese technique of energy work that is not only used for stress reduction and relaxation, but also promotes healing. Reiki was developed In 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Misao Usui.

The word Reiki is made up of the two Japanese words Rei and Ki.  Rei means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki is "life force energy".  This means that Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

What Can I Expect?

Heather uses a unique combination of Qigong and Reiki for your session.

You are fully clothed for the session and will be sitting in a chair in a comfortable, safe and private space. Soft meditation music is played in the background to help you relax, but no music can be played, if you prefer.

She will place her hands on or near your body in different locations around the head, shoulders, arms, stomach, legs and feet - allowing the energy to pass from her hands to your body.  Other areas are focused on as needed for each individual.

You do not have to do anything during the session except sit back and relax.

Will I Feel Anything?

You may or may not.  The experience is different for everyone and no two sessions are the same.

Some people report feeling the energy - this may be warmth, tingling, waves or other sensations.  Others have dreams, thoughts, or even claim to taste or smell things.

Qigong, in particular, can bring up strong emotions that an individual was holding onto.  However, it is perfectly normal not to feel anything at all.  Because energy work is so relaxing, some clients even fall asleep during their sessions.

Every session is a unique experience for each individual.

You will remain fully clothed for the session, so wear something that is comfortable for you.  Anything goes...yoga pants, shorts, jeans and t-shirt.

You will have to take your shoes off, so wear or bring socks if your feet get cold easily.
